Austria’s Defeat to Belgium in European Championship Qualifiers and Embarrassing Jersey Mishap

Austria lost 2:3 to Belgium in the European Championship qualifiers at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna. Due to the bankruptcy, the team of German coach Ralf Rangnick (65) is missing three important points in Group F. And that’s not all the team missed on Friday evening…

“I’ll buy an L,” Florian Grillitsch (28) must have thought when the Hoffenheim star put on his jersey before the game. Because the Austrian association has had an embarrassing mishap.

The “10” is correct, the name “Grilitsch” is not. There is an L missing for the Austrian national player

A letter was missing from Florian Grillitsch’s jersey. Instead of “Grillitsch” it said “Grilitsch” on the Hoffenheim professional’s jersey.

But Grillitsch, like his colleagues, should get over the jersey breakdown more quickly than the bitter defeat.

A brace from former Bundesliga professional Dodi Lukebakio (12th/55th) and the goal from Romelu Lukaku (58th) actually made everything clear for the Belgians. Afterwards, Bayern star Konrad Laimer (73′) scored the next goal – and then Austria came close again.

First, Belgium’s Amadou Onana (79th) was shown yellow-red for repeated foul play, then BVB professional Marcel Sabitzer (84th) converted a penalty kick to make it 2-3. But it wasn’t enough for the Austrians.

However: Grillitsch & Co. have the next chance to win the European Championship ticket to Germany on Monday (6 p.m., here in Live ticker) in Baku. A win against Azerbaijan would ensure their third participation in the European Championship in a row.

A success that the Belgians have already achieved. National coach Domenico Tedesco (38) cheered after the 3-2 win: “It’s wonderful for all of us and for all of Belgium.”

The former Bundesliga coach also struggled with the two goals conceded after a 3-0 lead: “We are on the right track in many points, but we can still improve.”

At the corner! What Messi is doing is absolutely crazy
