Argentine Athletes Shine in Pre-Pan American Games Competitions

A new week of competitions passed with Argentine presence in the world, the last one before the start of the Pan American Games, with good results.

Archery

In the South American and the Ecuador Open, 31 medals for the Argentine delegation, which finished second in the medal table. Iván Nikolajuk (2 gold, one silver and one bronze) and Eugenia González Briozzo (one gold and two silver) in compound, among the most outstanding. Damián Jajarabilla-Florencia Leithold also added medals as a senior in the mixed recurve event.

BMX

At the Santiago del Estero World Cup, a new medal for Thomas Maturano, who won bronze in U23.

Badminton

Bronze medal for Nicolás Oliva-Santiago Otero in doubles at the International Series in Peru; Ailén Oliva-Iona Gualdi achieved the same medal in the Ibero-American.

Tennis

Mariano Navone became champion of the Buenos Aires Challenger, after beating Federico Coria 2-6, 6-3 and 6-4. Fourth Challenger title for Navone, who enters the ATP Top 150.

Nautical Skiing

8th place for Tobías Giorgis at the World Championships in Florida, overall. Additionally, he was 17th in figures, and 19th in vault. Violeta Mociulsky was 31st in figures.

Beach Volley

At the World Championship in Tlaxcala, Nicolás and Tomás Capogrosso reached the round of 16, after a 2-1 record in the group stage, and finished in 17th place. Ana Gallay-Fernanda Pereyra, for their part, were 37th.
