Arantxa Rus finally won again on Monday. The best Dutch tennis player achieved victory in the opening round of the Seoul tournament. Compatriot Arianne Hartono failed to reach the second round.

Rus had traveled to Seoul knowing that she had lost her last six matches. In recent weeks she was immediately ready at the US Open and in Cincinnati, Guadalajara, Ningbo and Beijing.

That series ended against South Korea’s Han Na-lae, who is 236th in the world rankings. The score was 6-1 and 6-3 for Rus, who occupies 51st place in the global rankings.

In the next round a confrontation with the American Claire Liu (WTA-98) awaits. Rus is number seven on the placement list at the hard court tournament in Seoul.

The curtain immediately fell for Hartono. The 27-year-old Dutch woman could not compete with Yuan Yue from China, who is 37 places higher in the world rankings (165th to 128th). The score was 6-1 and 6-2.
