Apple TV+ Targets Formula 1 with $2 Billion Streaming Rights Offer

Apple TV+ would be willing to offer two billion dollars a year to obtain the streaming rights of Formula 1 races. After having put together a highly anticipated film on F1 with Brad Pitt, the multinational’s interest in this sport does not stop . The objective would be global coverage, but it will be necessary to take into account the agreements already existing in the various countries

Apple TV+ would like to focus more and more on sport and would have proposed to purchase the Formula 1 television rights. The US multinational, one of the most important technology companies, has already shown interest in the Circus, preparing a film about an ex-driver who returns to the track (Brad Pitt plays him) and a documentary on Lewis Hamilton. Now it aims higher and is ready to deliver $2 billion a year to get streaming rights to Formula 1 racing. The company would have thought of broadening its horizons after the success of Season Pass MLSthe service that offers the streaming of Major League Soccer matches and which would have brought a considerable number of new subscribers. However, Apple would have to wait to get the world rights, having to deal with the agreements already made in other countries with the various television broadcasters. In Italy, for example, it is Sky to provide this service.

In the United Statesuntil the 2025 the rights are in the hands of ESPN, so we will have to wait at least until that date. From that moment on, Apple would sign an agreement with Formula 1 for 7 years. The other countries would instead be involved after 5 years.

Apparently, however, the interest would not be limited to this sport: the multinational, which currently provides a subscription for the MLS Season Pass and MLB Friday Night Baseball, would be aiming also to the NBAthe English Premier League, the NFL Sunday Ticket and who knows how much more.
