It’s a restless season for Juve. After Paul Pogba’s suspension for doping now the “Fagioli case” explodes. The young Juventus talent he is under investigation by the Turin Prosecutor’s Office for online betting on illegal platforms.
He risks up to three years of disqualification
The Football Federation and the head of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, Giuseppe Chiné, were notified of the investigation at the end of August 2023 by acquiring the first documents. According to Article 24, Nicolò Fagioli risks up to three years of disqualification. Article 24 of the Justice Code prohibits “making or accepting bets, directly or indirectly… which concern results relating to official meetings organized within the FIGC, FIFA and UEFA”.
An excellent season and debut in the national team
Nicholas Fagioli is 22 years old and grew up in the Piacenza youth team. In 2015 he arrived in Juventus’ youth academy and with the black and white shirt he made his professional debut on 26 August 2018 (with Juventus U23, ed.). After a loan to Cremonese (2021-2022 season) he returned to Juve and found space thanks to Massimiliano Allegri who inserted him several times in the Juventus midfield. His first goal in Lecce-Juventus 0-1 on 29 October 2022 and an excellent season concluded with 37 appearances, 3 goals and 5 assists. In the current tournament another 6 appearances and an assist (against Sassuolo, ed.). Wednesday 16 November 2022, the Juventus midfielder he made his debut for Italy in the 3-1 friendly win against Albania.
