Another Migrant Youth Fleeing from North Africa Found and Assisted by State Police

This time they found him, scared, wandering without a specific destination through the streets of the city and as happened with three other boys who were barely the same age just a few days ago, it was the State Police agents who took care of him first joke: we are talking about another migrant who fled from North Africa, a young Tunisian national, born in 2007, who was in fact intercepted and then assisted in the night between Saturday and Sunday during one of the weekend’s ritual services.

The sixteen-year-old, who appeared frightened and disoriented to the officers, said he arrived in Italy in mid-September, as always “via Lampedusa”. From here he then ended up in a community in Lombardy, where according to his account he was bullied several times by others present in the same reality: hence the decision to flee, finally arriving in Legnano. The police officers reassured him and gave him initial assistance and, immediately afterwards, in collaboration with the Municipality’s social services, they found him temporary accommodation.

The case of the sixteen-year-old comes a few days after the other case of the three minors, also of Tunisian nationality, found by the Police after they had been sleeping outside in the Legnano Park for a few days and after having also landed in Lampedusa. Well, in this case the first integration of the three young people into the city context is going in the best possible way. Yesterday morning the three, aspiring cooks and mechanics, started attending the Italian school, while the collaboration between the police station, the municipality’s social services and other associations, led the young people to also start attending the football fields and the city’s judo gyms.
