The Russian Andrey Rublev won his quarter-final game in the ATP 1000 tournament in Shanghai against the French Ugo Umbert in two sets 6:2, 6:3 on Friday.
Dominant first sentence
Rublev dominated his opponent, especially in the first set. The result is an early double break and the confident win of the first set.
More balanced second movement
In the second set, Rublev also pulled away early with a break to 2:1, but Humbert got the immediate re-break and even took the lead 3:2.
With the break to 4:3, Rublev finally sets the course for victory.
Humbert, who is now 2:3 behind in the head-to-head against Rublev, simply made too many mistakes in the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters to pose a serious threat to number seven in the world rankings. With a victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas, among others, the Frenchman can look back on a successful Masters.
