The established racing teams in Formula 1 give a new applicant the cold shoulder because they see him as a threat. The Andretti case could be the start of a power struggle.

Formula 1 is doing well. Maybe a little too good. The record numbers obscure the view of the whole for some people in the exclusive club. Immigration is undesirable. A team with the illustrious name Andretti and the global corporation General Motors with its Cadillac brand are at the door, but influential circles are keeping them closed with all their might.

The established racing teams give the applicant the cold shoulder, and rights holder Liberty also has little interest in a new team. But the International Automobile Federation (FIA) created facts and granted the license to the applicant from the USA. Three other candidates were rejected. The Americans met all the conditions of the review process, which lasted five months.
