Alianza Lima Makes History by Qualifying for Copa Libertadores 2024

Alianza Lima secured a place in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores 2024 after an outstanding victory against Deportivo Binacional in Juliaca. This victory not only put them in the final for the 2023 Liga 1 title, but also made history by making them the first Peruvian club to qualify for the group stage of next year’s Copa Libertadores.

This will be the third consecutive year in which Alianza Lima will represent Peru in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores, thanks to its solid performance in the Accumulated Table and its direct qualification to the final of Liga 1 2023.

Currently, the “intimos” accumulate 75 points in the Accumulated Table, placing themselves six points behind their closest rival, Universitario de Deportes (69), with two dates remaining until the tournament ends. Likewise, the final position in the table is yet to be determined, but even if Alianza Lima does not achieve first place, its worst case scenario would be second place, which would guarantee its presence in one of the groups of the Copa Libertadores.

The unknown that remains to be resolved is whether Alianza Lima will be Peru 1 or Peru 2 in the competition, which will be decided at the end of League 1 2023, depending on whether the team is crowned national champion or runner-up.

However, what is certain is that this classification has assured the Alliance club an income of 3 million dollars, which represents an important sporting and financial achievement for the institution.
