Alejandro Gomez, Argentine footballer for Monza, has received a two-year ban for doping

On Friday evening the Monza football team confirmed what was announced earlier today by the Spanish sports site Reliefaccording to which the Argentine footballer Alejandro Gomez, nicknamed “el Papu”, had received a two-year ban for having tested positive in an anti-doping test carried out last year, shortly before the World Cup won in Qatar with Argentina.

Monza confirmed the positivity to a drug prohibited to athletes, Terbutaline, which Gomez would have taken involuntarily, and also the first degree disqualification with a two-year suspension from sporting activity.

The positive test was found in November 2022 after training with Sevilla, the team for which Gomez played until last September, before returning to Serie A. In the three weeks spent at Monza this season, Gomez was used in two championship matches, never as a starter.
