The center problems are troubling Alba Berlin. However, the club management does not yet see the time to act.

Berlin (dpa/bb). Alba Berlin does not want to sign any additional players for the time being due to staffing concerns in the center area. In an interview on the basketball Bundesliga club’s homepage, sports director Himar Ojeda said on Thursday: “Of course you have to make short-term transfers, but we’re not at that point yet.”

He always monitors the situation very closely. “But if we bring in someone who isn’t able to find our rhythm, there’s no point. “If we sign someone, it has to be worth it in the long run,” explained the 51-year-old Spaniard: “Maybe our youth players will also get more chances now.”

The very young and newly formed team from the capital currently has to make do without the two centers Yanni Wetzell and Khalifa Koumadje. “It will now take even longer to find the necessary rhythm as a team, even though we have to play several games a week. This will of course affect our performance in the next few weeks,” explained Ojeda. “Apart from the NBA, there are hardly any teams at the professional level that are willing to make a fresh start and think more long-term than one season. I’m very happy that we can work like this here. We want to establish our specific style of play with very specific types of players over a longer period of time.”
