Facing the 23/24 season of the Argentine Basketball League (LAB), Villa San Martín started with the preseason work, with clear objectives and a lot of confidence, knowing that the institution from Chaco will once again be present in the second category of the country.
Regarding the start of the preseason, it got underway on Friday the 1st with a talk and presentation of the objectives and the work plan, in addition to members of the board of directors welcoming the players and coaching staff.
During the weekend, Saturday 2 and Sunday 3, the physical trainer Guillermo Stieg carried out physical evaluations of the players, this being an almost mandatory evaluation to know the physical state of the players.
While on Monday the 4th, the Villa San Martín team did gymnastics work and individual and physical-technical technique. “We are a young team, in addition to having youth players that allow us to do a good integrated job in a single daily shift of approximately three hours,” said head coach Gastón Castro.
“Regarding the preseason, we have good feelings, good acceptability, although we take many precautions, where we will seek to level the physical condition of the players and equalize them, and then, already in the second week of work, begin to intensify the volume of work, since this is a new team, so the tactical concepts are going to take time and work”, remarked the Tricolor coach.
To clarify that, with an almost complete team, except for Ramiro Paz who, for purely sporting reasons, with the authorization of the coaching staff, cannot be there during this first week of preseason that started on Friday the 1st. In addition, to highlight that during this preseason, the coaching staff has in mind to hold some friendly matches against teams from the National League, although nothing has been confirmed yet.
THE SQUAD
The Villa San Martín squad started the preseason with the following players, who made themselves 100 percent available to the institution: the additions of Ramiro Paz, the forwards Maximiliano Martín and Hans Feder Ponce, the power forward Stéfano Simondi, the escort Stéfano Arancibia and point guard Luciano Cáceres.
In addition, the Tricolor confirmed the continuity of Jeremías Frontera, Joaquín San Vicente and Bruno Galassi, these players being a strong bet and highly trusted by coach Gastón Castro, who will also represent the club of his love for another season together with the once again first assistant Ariel Brollo and second assistant Hugo Camisasca, as well as the continuity of Guillermo Stieg, physical trainer of the hierarchy and of the category, and Imanol Escobar accompanying him.
