This is how BMW is working on the comeback in 2024

How good that nothing is lost at BMW. Old steel, aluminum and special alloys from back when the Bavarians were circling in Formula 1. Everything still there. Easily 14 years old, so what? The high-tech junk was quickly thrown off, and it has now become all sorts of useful things in Munich. For example shafts, housing parts or other accessories for that powerful engine with which they are planning the big thing. “Of course,” says Motorsport Director Andreas Roos of the FAZ: “Our goal is to win Le Mans.”

He also says it will be difficult to win the famous 24 Hours next June. But would be fitting: The only overall victory so far is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Soon after, BMW had said goodbye and temporarily said goodbye to Formula 1. In July last year, they announced that they would return to La Sarthe in 2024. “There were 18 months between the blank sheet of paper and the first kilometers of racing in the new car,” says Roos.
