The Spanish MotoGP rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda), seventh in the fight for pole and in the sprint race of the Japanese Grand Prix, has assured that “the ‘Top 10’ will once again be the objective” in the race of the Sunday in Motegi, and he confessed that the “best” thing about the day was being able to “go to Q2”.
“It seems that the ‘Top 10’ will once again be the goal for tomorrow. There are some things to check and, of course, we continue trying and working to achieve more,” he said in statements provided by his team.
The one from Cervera also explained his feelings of the day. “I think the best thing about the day has been going from Q1 to Q2 and starting in the third row. Seventh position means completing a solid day, not the best, but I have made an effort to follow the leading group because that is my character “The tires started to fail towards the end and I had to go more at my normal pace after risking a lot at the beginning,” he stressed.
For his part, his teammate Joan Mir acknowledged that he expected “more” in a sprint race in which he finished thirteenth, improving two positions on his fifteenth starting place. “We expected more today because during qualifying I felt quite good, there were possibilities of moving on to Q2 but it didn’t happen that way,” he said.
“I’m quite disappointed with how the race went in general, in the sprint I didn’t feel the same and we weren’t able to match the times. Without a doubt, we have to work to understand it and be able to take advantage of our potential and our expectations. Tonight We will look for answers so that tomorrow we can do the race for which we know we have potential,” concluded the Spaniard.
