The 3×3 Basketball Tournament, hosted by Ağcılar Municipality and included in the official calendar of FIBA, has ended.
Bağcılar District Governor Abdullah Uçgun, Bağcılar Mayor Abdullah Özdemir and Zaza Enden, one of Fenerbahçe’s former basketball players, attended the closing day of the organization held in Bağcılar Square, where 32 teams, 16 international, 12 local and 4 disabled, participated.
Awards were presented to the athletes who were successful in the organization, which was held on a covered platform with tribunes on three sides and attracted great interest from the citizens.
Making a statement to the press here, Bağcılar Mayor Abdullah Özdemir stated that they were happy to host a very important organization.
Reminding that Turkey has a very young population, Özdemir said, “We are in a very beautiful square on a beautiful autumn day. This is an area where society can meet at once. We use this square extraordinarily actively. We are hosting a very important organization. It is an important organization included in FIBA’s calendar. There are 300 thousand young people in Bağcılar. As one of the youngest mayors, we are trying to utilize this potential. We think that these organizations are important for raising the athletes of the future in our country. We want to add vision to them and bring them together with important names. “We find it important for them to be inspired.” he said.
Stating that they received very good feedback from the citizens, Özdemir concluded his words as follows:
“We have sports development courses that reach large numbers. We would like to thank our former basketball players, our federation, and our Ministry of Youth and Sports for joining us in this valuable organization. We are very happy to host this beautiful organization. We will see that Bağcılar raises important athletes in the future. We are receiving positive reactions. “We see the atmosphere here, there was intense participation from our citizens. Our young people were here with us. This interest shows that we are on the right track and excites us. No development happens at once. We have taken an important step in this journey.”
