Yamal, who is only 16 years old, was given the opportunity to debut by the senior national team coach, Luis de la Fuente in the EURO 2024 Group A qualifying match against Georgia, Friday (8/9/2023) WIB.
The Barcelona player was introduced in the 44th minute to replace Dani Olmo who was suffering from injury. Not just his debut, Yamal even scored his first goal in the 74th minute.
Yamal, who was standing at the far post, successfully executed a horizontal cross released by Nico Williams from the left wing. With this goal, Spain successfully won 7-1 over hosts Georgia at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena.

The goal that Yamal just scored made him the youngest goalscorer in history for the Spanish national team.
Yamal scored a goal when he was still 16 years and 57 days old. He broke the record for youngest goalscorer previously held by Gavi.
The player, who also comes from Barcelona, scored a goal for the Spanish senior national team when he was 17 years and 304 days old in 2022.
Gavi previously also broke the record for the youngest goalscorer for the Spanish national team which was held by another Barcelona player, Ansu Fati. Fati scored a goal at the age of 17 years and 311 days in 2020.

Before being called up to the Spanish national team, Yamal first impressed at Barcelona. He was even invited to train with the senior team when he was 15 years old in 2022.
Yamal then made his debut in La Liga in April 2023 or in the 32nd week of the 2022/2023 season. He became the fifth youngest debutant in the Spanish League when he was 15 years 290 days old.
Not only that, Yamal was recently in the spotlight in week 3 of the 2023/2024 Spanish League. At only 16 years old, Yamal single-handedly ‘carried’ Barcelona to win the match against Villarreal (4-3).
He recorded one assist in that match, making him the youngest player in La Liga in the 21st century to record an assist at the age of 16 years and 45 days. Yamal was also named MVP.
