The Argentine Tennis Association (AAT) and the Government of the City of Buenos Aires signed a collaboration agreement for the construction of the National Tennis Center in Manuel Belgrano Park (also known as KDT), an emblematic project that will revolutionize national sports.

“The House of Tennis will become the epicenter of the development of high performance tennis and the training of new generations of tennis players, as well as in the home of national and international tournaments of all categories, including the prestigious Billie Jean King Cup or ATP Challenger Tour dates, the Association reported.

The president of the AAT, Agustín Calleri; the vice president Mariano Zabaleta; the Minister of Economic Development and Production of the City, José Luis Giusti; the Secretary of Sports of Buenos Aires, Carlos Retegui; and the Chief of Staff of the City Sports Secretariat, Santiago Pattyntoured the facilities of the former KDT, in the Palermo neighborhood, where the project will be carried out.

“It is a historic compensation for Argentine tennis, expressed Agustín Calleri. “It’s a fight we’ve been fighting for years, and we’re finally seeing it come to fruition. Few federations in the country have the possibility of having their own training center, and this represents a significant advance for our sport,” added the man from Córdoba.

The National Tennis Center will not only be a training place for the best Argentine tennis players, but also a space for comprehensive education. The AAT will use the new facilities as a training center and faculty headquarters to promote the continuous training of coaches and the education of young talents.

The project will cover an area of 10,000m² and will begin with a first stage of enhancing the property. In addition to receiving competitions from different circuits, training camps for national teams, training and activities of social tennis programs will also be held.

“It is the most important work in the history of the Association. In more than 100 years and after many failed attempts, this marks a milestone in the development of the sport in the country and promises to propel Argentine tennis towards a bright future”assured Mariano Zabaleta.

Carlos “Chapa” Retegui expressed his joy for the agreement: “It was always our decision to open the doors of our parks and sports centers to sport, and that is why having the best of Argentine tennis in this space makes us immensely happy.”
