The Ararteko recommends measures to control noise in Azpeitia

The Ararteko has sent a recommendation to the Azpeitia City Council to carry out inspection and control measures to correct the excessive noise caused by the music system of a hospitality establishment. Apparently, the request comes from a complaint filed by a resident of the area – which the institution has not detailed – due to the lack of intervention by the Azpeitia City Council to control and correct the serious noise nuisances coming from said establishment.

According to the claimant, “the inconvenience is unbearable, the access doors to the establishment are constantly open,” which increases the noise in her home, and “closing hours are continually violated.”

Ararteko has indicated that it has already analyzed this same case previously and has recognized that the city council itself ordered the promoter of the activity to place the limiter on all the equipment in order to respect the maximum authorized volume. The City Council already confirmed to Ararteko in 2022 that, after effectively limiting the volume, no more excessive noise had been observed. However, the problem persists, so, given the repetition of the violations committed, the Ararteko has recommended that the Azpeitia City Council proceed with the installation of a sonographic registry.

The council, for its part, claims to not know “what specific establishment it is” since, “as in any other town, there have been complaints about noise but the pertinent measures have been taken.”
