Trainer Kees van Wonderen can no longer do much good with some of the supporters of SC Heerenveen. Supporters urged his departure in chants during the lost Eredivisie match against Excelsior (0-3) on Saturday.
“Keessie get the hell out of here,” came the voice from the stands of the Abe Lenstra Stadium. Followed by: “Shame on you.”
“Of course that means something to me,” Van Wonderen responded to the camera shortly after the match ESPN. “This is also inherent to the profession we practice. I’m just not used to it this way yet. It is right that more is expected of us. I understand that. And as long as people don’t touch me, it’s fine .”
Halfway through, Heerenveen was already 0-2 behind due to goals from Couhaib Driouech and Nikolas Agrafiotis. In the second half, Troy Parrott scored for the 0-3.

‘I see perspective’
Heerenveen started the second season under Van Wonderen excellently. The club won the first two games, but lost for the fourth time in a row against Excelsior on Saturday. Heerenveen is now twelfth.
“But I see perspective because my players accelerate every day,” said Van Wonderen. “Of course I also want the development of my team to go faster. It is especially annoying for the people who work here and care about the club.”
