Successful Performances at Regional Youth Judo Championships: Qualifying for District Level Championships

Qualification for the district level championships

HOHENBOSTEL/BARSINGHAUSEN (red). On Sunday, the judoka from the entire Hanover area were on the mat in Barsinghausen to host the regional youth championships in the U9 and U13 age groups. For this championship, the judoka from VSV Hohenbostel had a short journey to the neighboring club TSV Barsinghausen, which hosted these championships this season. In the U9 age group, both starters from VSV Hohenbostel were able to fight for a place on the podium. Johanna Schöffmann won a silver medal and Jonathan Struß won bronze. Due to the high summer temperatures at the weekend, the U13 quickly had a tropical climate in the competition hall, which also made the audience sweat a lot while cheering them on. In the well-filled field of U13 participants, the VSV athletes had to face numerous competitors in the respective weight classes this year. Henriette Schöffmann and Lilly Sager each won bronze medals among the girls. For the boys, Johann Tessmer (-40 kg) was the first to go on the mat. Unfortunately, Johann had to withdraw from the tournament due to an injury in his second fight. Thies Rehberg then started in the class up to 31 kg. Thies had to admit defeat in the semi-finals and then won the bronze medal. Jonathan Schöffmann (-28 kg) was also able to hold his own in his weight class, but unfortunately had to admit defeat to his opponent on points in the fight for third place. In two weeks the district championships at MTV in Elze will continue at the next level.
