After the rather disappointing performance of the Cubs in Trnava in the last double header of the 2nd Bundesliga East, the Stockerauers again showed a strong performance in front of their home crowd in the play-offs against the Traiskirchen Grasshoppers and were awarded a “split”, i.e. one win and one defeat against the same opponent, rewarded. Because in the national league/Bundesliga playoff, which is about promotion to the highest league, although the people of Lenaustadt don’t want to be promoted, they met in the first round against the bottom of the table for this year’s Bundesliga season.
Nevertheless, it was a larger bite than one is used to from the 2nd Bundesliga East. The first game went back and forth, but the Traiskirchners quickly led 5:1 in the second inning. Game number two saw Alex Seidl duel with Grasshoppers top pitcher David Tongue from the USA. And the Stockerauer dominated this game 6:0, was ahead with 14 (!!) strikeouts and seven shutout innings.
