Standard reaches club agreement with Southampton about Moussa Djenepo’s return

Standard sold Djenepo to Southampton in 2019 for just under 16 million euros and would now pay more than three million euros to get him back. This would make the Malian flank attacker the most expensive incoming transfer at Standard since the takeover by the American 777 Partners.

A personal agreement has yet to be found with the player himself, but Djenepo is open to a return to the club where he started his European career in 2017. At Southampton, where Djenepo is sidelined, the Malian earns just under two million euros a year.

Standard is expected to make at least four more inbound transfers between today and midnight on Wednesday. An agreement was already reached at the weekend with English defensive midfielder Isaac Hayden (28) on a lease without a purchase option at Newcastle.
