A class from the Firpo Buonarroti Institute will participate in the project by carrying out educational activities and supporting the organization. The Amiu stand which supports the “Gioriamo Pulito” project promoted by Stelle nel Sport will also be present.New to this edition is the presence of Orientamenti, a project of the Liguria Region, which is committed to standing alongside all the families of Liguria, helping young people to discover their dreams, interests and passions, as well as supporting parents in playing their fundamental role in these important moments of growth. At the Orientamenti stand it will be possible to talk to experts and find various resources and guidance tools designed to support families of children with disabilities.

“SportAbility Day has already entered the hearts of all Genoese and Ligurians in just a few years”, declares the sports councilor of the Liguria Region, Simona Ferro. “In 2021 we convincedly supported the birth of this further Stars in Sport project and today we are proud of the important role it plays at a regional level for the promotion of sport at 360 degrees, without any barrier or prejudice. This 2023 edition, full of surprises and innovations, also teaches us to go beyond our limits without allowing disabilities to become insurmountable obstacles. A great lesson in sport and life that will never go out of fashion.”

“Lo SportAbility Day – explains the Sport councilor of the Municipality of Genoa, Alessandra Bianchi – represents the most important moment of a project that lasts all year, SportAbility, which thanks to the Stars in Sport staff allows us to talk about sport and inclusion every day not only through the exploits of Paralympic athletes but also thanks to the commitment carried out by multiple associations to improve the quality of life through sporting activity. I still have in my eyes the exciting parade of over 750 kids and their sports clubs, all united by a common love for sport, and for Genoa it is truly a pride to be able to count extraordinary ambassadors such as, for example, the multiple champion Francesco Bocciardo. As an Administration, projected towards a 2024 which will see Genoa as the European capital of Sport, we are working to promote the values of inclusiveness and growth not only physical but also personal and social. The facilities and accessibility, as demonstrated by the renovated Sciorba Stadium which we will inaugurate on Saturday, constitute an important part of an action aimed at making sporting activity accessible to a growing number of people”.

The aim of SportAbility Day is to let young people who have not yet approached sport and have not been able to enjoy its extraordinary values and benefits try many different disciplines.

“Disability is in the eye of the beholder,” he recalls Francesco Bocciardo, historic testimonial of the project. “Sport has played a fundamental role in my personal growth – says the multiple Paralympic champion – and very often I stop to think and realize that today I wouldn’t be the person I am if I hadn’t done sport. For this reason, with our friends at Stelle nelle Sport, I want more and more kids to approach the magic of sport. Sports education has given me a lot, especially the ability to resist the external or internal pressures that the world of sport subjects me to, something that has helped me a lot in everyday life. I invite all disabled children to come with their families and friends to Sciorba on Saturday. They will find an ideal discipline for them and will be able to start a sporting journey that can change their lives, as happened to me.”
