Speculation Surrounding Potential Trade Involving Chauncey Billups, Kyle Lowry, and Damian Lillard

When Chauncey Billups and Kyle Lowry were spotted together at a Colorado State-Buffalo football game, all sorts of speculation arose regarding the trade that couldn’t happen to allow Damian Lillard to move from the cold of Portland to the summer Florida evergreen.

For those unfamiliar with the NBA, Billups is the coach of the Trailblazers and Lowry is the point guard of the Heat. NBA champion in 2019 with Toronto, Lowry saw his statistical performance drop in Miami, averaging 12.4 points, 6.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds, shooting 52.6% from 2 points and 36, 3% from three. Furthermore, his contract expires on June 30, 2024, and will probably be traded by the February deadline.

As is known, the inconsistency of the offer that the Heat can make for Lillard has so far stopped the chances of the exchange. The franchise had previously failed to acquire Bradley Beal from Washington for the same reason, and Beal ended up forming a “Big three” on the Phoanix Suns with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant.

With Lowry set to leave this season, the Miami Heat continue to explore three-team deals that involve the point guard and could allow them to receive Lillard from Portland. The latter in turn, especially after the warnings of Adam Silver, the NBA commissioner, must make the best of a bad situation, and must already prepare for training camp with the Blazers.
