Spanish Federation Announces Call for Badminton Players for International Competition

The technical direction of the Spanish Federation defined a call with thirteen players, including David Hernansanz and Santiago Martínez from Soriano and Sergio Latorre and Cristina Puebla from Burgos.

The four athletes from Soria already know their rivals in a competition that will bring together 1,260 volantistas from the five continents in which delegations from Asian countries stand out, with the hosts leading other powers such as China, Japan, Thailand, India and Indonesia as the clearest exponents, as well as leading European countries such as Denmark and England in the lead.

The sporting expectations of the Spanish team are modest, aware that they will face players who have been at the top of the ranking in their senior career, with an obvious difference in level. In any case, the Sorians will try to overcome rounds to gain experience and learn first-hand the skills of great players.

Without knowing the specific schedules, the competition program has established that David, Santiago and Sergio will debut on Monday, September 11 with their singles matches while Cristina Puebla will do so on Monday with her two doubles matches.

The greatest aspirations for the Soria Badminton Club – CS24 will be in the under-19 category, where Javier Barrios and Daniela Corchón will fight for the medals, both being seeds number six and three, respectively, in the individual category.
