Sherbrookois snatch 4-3 victory from Castors, forcing sixth game in Louisville Slugger division semi-final

The Sherbrookois managed to snatch a 4-3 victory from the Castors Monday evening in Acton Vale, thus forcing the presentation of a sixth game, Tuesday evening in Sherbrooke, during this semi-final series 4 of 7 of the Louisville Slugger division of the LBMQ (Quebec Major Baseball League.)

Both teams scored all their runs in the third inning; four for the visitors to start the inning, and three for the visitors, in their turn at bat. But it was too little, too late for the Beavers.

Kirk Fryer hit the Expos’ first hit in the top of the third inning, and he would be pushed to the plate by a triple from Karl Gosselin, producing the first run of the game. He then scored on an irregular feint from the Acton Vale launcher.

Germin Lopez hit a single followed by Ismael Pena’s double and Yunior Paumier’s single bringing the score to 4-0 for the Expos.

The Beavers’ response was not long in coming. David Gauthier reduced the lead by just one swing with a solo home run as the leadoff hitter in the bottom of the third inning.

Gabriel Thibodeau follows with a single just like Douglas Toro. Leonardo Ochoa then produced a point with a sacrifice ball. Toro then crosses home plate after two bad throws.

Visibly inconvenienced by a lower body injury, Oscar Rodriguez then had to leave the mound in favor of Jonathan Raymond who ended the inning with a strikeout.

It was Dauris Lopez Rodriguez who ended the match, on the Expos mound, thanks to a double play ball, to save the victory which went to Jonathan Raymond’s record. Marcos Encarnacion takes the setback for the Castors.

The Castors now have a 3-2 lead in this 4 of 7 series which continues on Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m. for the sixth game. Should a seventh and final match be necessary, it is scheduled for Acton Vale on Thursday evening.
