Sainz wins the tenth Singapore “Grand Prix” qualification

World champion and current overall leader Max Verstappen of the Netherlands, who has won the last ten races in a row, finished 11th fastest in the second qualifying session, while Perez set the 13th fastest time, failing to qualify for the final part of qualifying.

Verstappen was only seven thousandths of a second behind AlphaTauri’s New Zealander Leah Lawson in the second qualifying session.

Ferrari driver Sainz set the fastest time for the second stage in a row, completing a lap in one minute and 30.984 seconds.

Mercedes pilot George Russell was second (1:31.056), Charles Leclair from Ferrari was third (1:31.063).

Lando Norris from McLaren finished fourth (1:31.270), British Lewis Hamilton fifth (1:31.485), Kevin Magnussen from Haas sixth, finishing 0.09 seconds behind Hamilton, while the two-time world champion took seventh place. Spanish Fernando Alonso from “Aston Martin”.

Before that, Sainz achieved the best result in the third practice runs, ahead of George Russell from Mercedes and Norris.

The fourth 0.313 seconds behind Sainz was Verstappen, the second “Ferrari” pilot Leclair took the fifth place, the seven-time world champion Hamilton – the sixth, Perez – the eighth, and the representative of “Aston Martin” Fernando Alonso – the 13th place.

It has already been reported that in the first practice runs on Friday, the best results were achieved by “Ferrari” pilots, respectively Leclair and Sainz, while the leader of the competition, “Red Bull” pilot Verstappen, reached third and eighth place respectively.

The Singapore Grand Prix will take place on Sunday.

After 14 stages of the competition, Verstappen is the undisputed leader in the overall standings, having accumulated 364 points. Sergio Perez (Red Bull) is second with 219 points, while Alonso is six points ahead of Lewis Hamilton with 170 points.

22 stages are planned for the F-1 2023 championship.
