Ruud Vormer ended up sidetracked at Club Brugge and put on a Zulte Waregem shirt in January. However, Essevee was unable to avoid relegation. Vormer received a proposal from KV Mechelen.
Return to the Jupiler Pro League or sign a two-year contract with Zulte Waregem, Ruud Vormer chose the second option. He also works closer to their residence in Knokke. His wife Roos works at Ghent University Hospital.
“I spoke to Steven Defour. KV Mechelen is a club for me, I think. It’s a fantastic club. I spoke to Nikola Storm, but the distance was really too far for me,” Ruud Vormer reveals in the MIDMID podcast.
“However, Zulte Waregem is a fantastic club with wonderful people. It would be great if we could play champions in the Challenger Pro League,” Vormer said.
