Rui Pinto Convicted of Multiple Crimes in Football Leaks Case

Rui Pinto was convicted of nine of the crimes he was accused of, according to the ruling read this Monday at the Campus da Justiça, in Lisbon. On the other hand, the Portuguese hacker was acquitted of two crimes and amnestied for a total of 79 crimes, within the scope of World Youth Day.

The creator of Football Leaks was convicted of one count of attempted extortion, five counts of illegitimate access and three counts of tampering with correspondence.

Therefore, he will have to serve a four-year suspended sentence for the crimes described above. In addition, you will also have to pay three thousand euros to Doyen and 15 thousand euros to lawyer João Medeiros.

Aníbal Pinto was also convicted of the crime of attempted extortion, as the court considers that it is “clear and crystal clear” that the lawyer was aware of Rui Pinto’s plan to extort Doyen: the defendant wanted €500,000 to stop publications.

Aníbal Pinto will have to pay two thousand and five hundred euros to Doyen.

Furthermore, the hacker was acquitted of the crime of computer sabotage due to lack of evidence and pardoned of 68 crimes of improper access and 11 crimes of violating correspondence under the amnesty law.
