Basketball Bundesliga team Rostock Seawolves want to continue their success story after their first year in the BBL with their cup premiere. On Saturday (6.30 p.m.) head coach Christian Held’s newly formed team will play in their first game against newly promoted Rasta Vechta and want to secure their place in the round of 16 with a win. Although the Mecklenburgers are the best club in this round as ninth last season, Held warned: “We can expect a hot dance and an incredibly difficult situation in Vechta in front of probably a full house.”
This year the BBL Cup will take place in a new mode. In addition to the Bundesliga teams that took places ninth to 16th at the end of last season, the two relegated teams and the six best ProA teams of the 2022/2023 season will also compete in the first round. The eight BBL clubs that reached the playoffs have already qualified for the round of 16.
