Results in the Asturias Chess Team Cup

These are the results of the Group teams in the first round of the Asturias Chess Team Cup, which took place last Saturday, September 23.

The tournament, which takes place under an exciting direct elimination format with 4-board matches and a game pace of 90 minutes for the entire game plus 30 seconds per move, promised to be a challenge of chess skills and strategies.

The Covadonga Group “A” showed its superiority by beating Antonio Rico Femenino by an impressive score of 4-0. The team was made up of the players: Javier Fidalgo Fernández, Iván Fernández Torre, Iván Patón Álvarez and Jesús Ángel Lobo Rodríguez.

On the other hand, Group Covadonga «B» faced the strong Vetusta «A» team, ending with a score of 0-4 against. The members of the team were: Jesús López de Lerma Ruiz, Luis Manuel García Barros, José Miguel Peña López and Francisco Álvarez Álvarez.

Group 64, for its part, faced Ciudad Naranco “B” and although they fought tenaciously, they fell with a score of 0.5-3.5. The players Manuel Martínez Hurtado, David Junquera Guerrero, Álvaro González Fernández and Miguel Gorostidi Álvarez stood out for their competitive spirit and dedication to the game.

The chess room of the Covadonga Group witnessed these exciting matches, which attracted numerous chess fans and admirers of the club.

Results in the Asturias Under 12 Team Championship

Last Saturday, September 23, the Group’s under 12 team played the first two rounds of the Asturias Under 12 Chess Team Championship, held at the ARKUOS space in La Felguera.

The teams, made up of young talents under 12 years old, faced each other in exciting games with a playing pace of 30 minutes for the entire game, with an additional 30 seconds for each move made.

In the first round, the Group team faced Vetusta and won a notable victory with a score of 1.5-2.5. The players who represented the Group in this round were Álvaro Biempica Marín, Alberto Toranzo Rincón, Claudia Canel Celemín and Jorge García-Quijada Fernández, who demonstrated their skill on the board.

The second round was no less impressive, as the grupista team faced the Scarlet Pawn and achieved a flawless victory with a perfect score of 4-0. On this occasion, the team maintained the same lineup as in the first round, consolidating its dominance in the tournament.

Results in the Asturias Under 18 Team Championship

Last Saturday, September 23, the first two rounds of the exciting Asturias Under 18 Team Chess Championship took place in the prestigious ARKUOS space in La Felguera.

In an atmosphere full of emotion and strategy, the teams, made up of young talents under 18 years of age, faced each other in intense chess games. Each game was developed at a pace of 30 minutes for the entire game, with an additional 30 seconds for each move made.

In the first round, the Real Grupo de Cultura Covadonga team faced Antonio Rico and, although they fought tenaciously, the final result was 4-0 in favor of Antonio Rico. The Group presented its talented players: Marcos Vallina Menéndez, David Ronderos García, Iván Merodio Álvarez and Juan Jiménez Durán, who demonstrated their passion for chess.

The second round did not disappoint in terms of emotions, as the Group faced the Scarlet Pawn and earned a valuable draw with a score of 2-2. The team maintained the same lineup as in the first round, showing solid determination in the competition.
