Resignation of Ferdinand Tille: Great career – Sport

Ferdinand Tille, long-time libero at WWK Volleys Herrsching, is ending his career. His club announced this on social media on Friday. The 34-year-old native of Mühldorf “wants to take a different path after eight years of Herrsching and 27 years of volleyball,” the Herrschingers wrote: “We had great moments and we had bitter moments, but you always clearly gave your all.” After training at the Kempfenhausen volleyball boarding school, Tille rose to become one of the best German liberos. He won the DVV Cup three times with Generali Haching before moving abroad to clubs in France and Poland. Tille, who often inspired his teams with a lot of emotions and whose trademark was a yellow headband, played 165 times for the German national team. At the 2010 World Cup in Italy he was voted the best libero of the tournament, but his greatest success was winning bronze at the 2014 World Cup with the German men. Tille was always just a hair short of making it to the Olympic Games. Now he is devoting himself to his family – and building a house in the Munich area.
