Red Card Threatens Disqualification for New Zealand Rugby Player

A few minutes before the end of the match, Ethan de Groot received a red card, which threatens to disqualify him from the next game of the New Zealand national team.

The only points for Namibia were scored by Tiāns Swanepoulos, who converted a penalty kick.

In subgroup A, France is the leader with eight points in two games, Italy, who played one match, and New Zealand, who played two games, have five points each, while Uruguay and Namibia, who have played one and two matches respectively, have no points.

The World Cup will be held in nine French cities for more than a month and a half, with 20 national teams fighting for the prestigious trophy. In the first stage, teams in four subgroups will play a one-round tournament, with the best two advancing to the quarterfinals.

All eight quarter-finalists and the third-place winners of each group will secure tickets to the 2027 World Cup.

France hosts the World Championship for the third time in history and for the second time as the sole host. Out of the nine tournaments, the William Webb Ellis Cup has been lifted three times each by rugby players from New Zealand and South Africa, two titles for Australia and one for England.
