RC Genk is not pleased with the way Anderlecht captain Jan Vertonghen behaved on Sunday evening. After the match, technical director Dimitri de Condé went to get a story from the record international. It led to a commotion at the players’ tunnel with pushing and pulling.

The pots regularly boiled over during Genk-Anderlecht and Jan Vertonghen was often one of those involved. It started after nine minutes when he wanted to drag the ball out of Bonsu Baah’s hands. The youngster from Genk did not want to hand over the ball right away and that led to a first confrontation. Both players got yellow, barely five minutes later Bonsu Baah took his second yellow.

At the very end of the game, Vertonghen went on an adventure with the ball at his feet to the corner flag. He wanted to gain time, because at that moment RSCA was still 0-1 ahead. When the ball went out of bounds, Cuesta put his arm around Vertonghen’s chest. A strange action by the Colombian defender, but the theatrical fall of the Red Devil was also greatly exaggerated. Another uproar ensued.

After the game, Dimitri de Condé had descended from the stands to talk to Vertonghen. At the players’ tunnel it came to a fierce discussion and a new commotion. It is not yet clear what was said between De Condé and Vertonghen, but presumably the technical director was going to seek redress for the behavior of the record international.
