In an interview with Spanish media Movistar Plus, Nadal tempered his ambitions for his return: “Yes I want to play again and be competitive. But the hope is not to come back and win Roland Garros or the Australian Open, make no mistake. I am very aware that at this time in my life, all that is far away now. Although I’m not saying it’s impossible because ultimately everything in sport can change very quickly.”
If he does not want to aim too high, the Spaniard does not completely close the door to a potential exploit. Now aged 37, Rafael Nadal has fallen to 239th in the world. He has been away from the circuit since January 2023 and should therefore return a year later, to Australia.
