PSG-Dortmund: police headquarters attentive to possible encounters between hooligans

The return of the Champions League rhymes with that of very big posters, and therefore public events that are sometimes difficult to manage. This Tuesday, PSG and the Parc des Princes will host their first meeting of the season in the European Cup, against German club Borussia Dortmund (9 p.m.).

A match considered to be of “medium” risk for the Paris police headquarters, which has put in place the usual security and traffic restriction measures. If the risk inside the stadium is considered low, despite the large number of supporters expected (nearly 48,000) and in particular Borussia Dortmund supporters (around 2,000), it is the possible risk of meetings between German hooligans and French around the stadium or in the city which will be the subject of particular attention. Hooligans have not had access to the stadium for several years, but events in town remain a possibility.

The last meetings on the European scene between French and German clubs had given rise to clashes, particularly those between Nice and Cologne and between Marseille and Frankfurt last season. Whether such a violent scenario would recur around the meetings between PSG and Dortmund remains highly hypothetical. The Parisians’ last trip to the Ruhr, in 2020, passed without any problems and it has been almost fifteen years since Borussia Dortmund supporters last visited the Parc des Princes. It was in 2010, a much more complex year around the Parisian ultras, on the occasion of a Europa League match that the Schwarz-Gelbens had come to see in large numbers but which had gone without problem, in the same way as the first leg which had been the subject of very increased surveillance regarding the risk of brawls between hooligans.
