The Slovenian Primoz Roglic announced this Saturday, before the start of the Vuelta a Emilia, that he will leave the Dutch formation Jumbo-Visma at the end of this season. «I can simply confirm that I am leaving the team. “I will say after the races (in Italy) where I will go,” Roglic declared to a group of journalists.
The 33-year-old Slovenian, one of the best current cyclists in the grand tours, had contract with Jumbo-Visma until 2024a team he joined in 2016, when it was called Lotto-Visma.
With the yellow and black jersey the former ski jumper won the Liège-Bastogne-Liège in 2020, the Vuelta a España three times (2019, 2020 and 2021), this year’s Giro d’Italia and second in the Tour de France of 2020, after having been the leader for eleven days.
The Jumbo-Visma could merge with the Soudal-Quick Stepacknowledged team boss Patrick Lefevere this Saturday, confirming the negotiations between both teams.
In recent times, Roglic’s name has been mentioned as a possible reinforcement for next season for teams such as Ineos Grenadiers, Bora-Hansgrohe, Lidl-Trek, Bahrain Victorious, Israel-Premier Tech and Movistar Team.
