President Rajoelina Announces Special Bonuses for Medalists at 11th Indian Ocean Island Games

In recognition of their outstanding performances, the President of the Republic, Andry Rajoelina, announced special bonuses for the medalists.

Monday, September 4, the Malagasy athletes who participated in the 11th Indian Ocean Island Games (JIOI) in 2023 were honored by the President of the Republic, Andry Rajoelina, during a ceremony at the Iavoloha State Palace. The gold medalists were awarded an individual bonus of 5,000,000 Ariary. Silver medalists received a reward of 3,000,000 Ariary, while bronze medalists received 2,000,000 Ariary.

As reported Actu.orange.mg, these bonuses are cumulative for multi-medal athletes. As for the coaches, they receive the same sum as the athletes. Madagascar set a new record by winning a total of 272 medals, consisting of 121 gold medals, 71 silver medals, and 80 bronze medals. A success that places the island at the top of the ranking, surpassing its own record of 2007.

The Malagasy team has distinguished itself in a multitude of disciplines, including athletics, weightlifting, taekwondo, judo, karate, table tennis, swimming, kickboxing, wrestling, petanque, rugby, tennis, Paralympic sport, as well as in collective disciplines.
