President incarnate gave an interview to Liga TV, broadcast during the Thinking Football Summit, where he addressed various current issues of eagles
On the first day of the Thinking Football Summit, in the second edition of the Greater Football Fair, the TFS Stage was the stage for the broadcast of an interview with Rui Costa, President of SL Benfica, given to Liga TV.
Rui Costa began by praising the work of the red structure, which was fundamental for the return to the eagles’ titles. “Fortunately, I don’t work alone and everyone has contributed decisively to everything that has happened with the football team. Nothing in this club belongs to just one person”, he said, reinforcing the guidelines by which he is governed:
“The governance model was readjusted to the times we live in, to the current reality and to my work model. This is part of any change, as long as it is guided by the responsibility and dynamism that I want to create within the club.”
The President of SL Benfica also explained the success of the incarnate academy, which has seen the birth of some of the greatest national talents over the years. “Fortunately, Benfica Campus has given players to the first team every year. During last season, we had 11 youth players being used in the A team and this year we hope to go the same way. But I also cannot hide that it is a huge source of income for the club ”, he explained, while projecting the near future:
“Having just been national champions, we want to win the second championship in a row. In a year that will be extremely difficult, but we have our ambitions and we will try to do everything to be in the fight until the end and secure the second championship.”
The changes at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica for the new season was another of the topics discussed during the interview, with the modernization of the red house quoted as one of the flags of the current leader of the eagles.
“We are very proud of our stadium and what we tried to do was modernize it from the inside, something that had been an election promise. The new changes created a new aesthetic beauty and a more effusive environment in supporting the team so that the fan can have the best experience possible”, she said.
Finally, Rui Costa addressed the theme of the centralization of audiovisual rights, emphasizing the position of SL Benfica based on two main premises.
“We will only be able to have a completely valid opinion when we know what will come around. However, we know that it is a Government Law and that Liga Portugal stated that all clubs would benefit from this process. SL Benfica always favors the growth of Portuguese football and, therefore, has to be within this process ”, he concluded.
