The leaders of the world rankings, the Poles, are in the final of the European Championship for the first time since 2009. In the semifinals, they defeated the Slovenians 3:1 in sets. The favorite lost the first set 23:25, but then the Poles won after sets 25:21, 25:20 and 25:21. Recorder Gregor Ropret was injured for the Slovenians in the third set. In the second semi-final, the Italians dominated the Olympic champions, the French, after sets of 25:21, 25:19 and 25:23. The European final will thus be a repeat of the fight for gold from last year’s world championship and will take place on Saturday in Rome.
