Patrick Mahomes Negotiates $7 Million Raise, Becomes Third Highest-Paid Quarterback in NFL

With salaries skyrocketing among NFL quarterbacks, it seems logical that the best among them would receive one of the biggest salaries. On Monday, Patrick Mahomes managed to negotiate a raise of more than $7 million.

The 2022 season MVP has reached a contract reorganization agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs; he had already signed a record 10-year, $450 million pact in 2020.

According to the NFL Network, he will now earn $210.6 million between 2023 and 2026, or an average annual amount of $52.65 million. With performance bonuses, Mahomes could see the check increase to $218.1 million.

Thanks to this reorganization, the 28-year-old athlete becomes the third highest paid quarterback in the Goodell circuit. He is trailed only by Joe Burrow ($55 million, Cincinnati Bengals) and Justin Herbert ($53.3 million, Los Angeles Chargers), who went to the bank this summer.

However, Mahomes will no longer be linked to the Chiefs until 2031, as was planned with the original contract. Another reorganization would be planned for 2026. Everything was aimed at allowing the star pivot to be adequately remunerated compared to his counterparts.

Sunday, the Chiefs (1-1) recorded a 17-9 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Mahomes threw two touchdown passes and an interception in this game where he finished with 305 yards of aerial gains.

Last year, he won a second Most Valuable Player title and led his team to a second Super Bowl.
