Parralense Judo Coach Gabriel González to Represent Mexico in 2023 Pan American Veterans Judo Championship

Parralense judo coach Gabriel González will be representing Mexico within the 2023 Pan American Veterans Judo Championship, after receiving the endorsement of the Mexican Judo Federation, an official event of the Pan American Judo Confederation, which will take place on Friday the 22nd. to Sunday, September 24 in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco.

The current director of the Parral municipal sports institute (INMUDEPA), commented that it is a pride for him to return to the tatami again in an international competition and even more so in a year where his children also had the honor of representing Mexico in Pan American event.

It is worth mentioning that Gabriel González, in order to be present and participate in this event, received the endorsement of the Mexican Judo Federation (FMJ), in which several countries attend with their best exponents in both branches, since this event is official. by the Pan American Judo Confederation.

The championship will be held on Friday, September 22 and will culminate on Sunday, September 24, 2023, where the Judo instructor González, with a Ni Dan degree, will be participating in the category (M4, 81 kilo division).

He also told us that the last event he officially attended was in 2018, when he represented Mexico in the veterans world championship in Cancun, managing to reach the third round. Given this, he indicated that it is a great challenge for him to compete again. , since it implies resuming physical, technical and competitive preparation, as well as taking care of weight to be able to arrive in the best condition to this Pan American event.

Adding that, without a doubt, this will be his last competition, since he will focus on the role of coach, where he has many objectives with his students of the new generations.

On the other hand, he expressed that he started judo in September 1984, remembering that his first tournament was in March 1985, since then I have had a large number of events, municipal, state, national, international and the world championship, where he has had great achievements and many experiences.

Likewise, for more than 30 years as a competitor, he has obtained state championships, national medals, international medals, medals at a national university, as well as taking camps, seminars, courses, exams, refereeing clinics, among many other activities.

On the other hand, in 2017, Gabriel González opened his school, which has given great results with his students, to mention a few: state team championships, national medalists, medalists in CONADE games and medalist in Pan American, children’s and youth championships .

Finally, Gabriel González, 46 years old, is looking forward to raising the name of Mexico, in this his last sporting experience as an athlete.
