Paris Basketball Forced to Change Schedule and Venue for Upcoming Matches

While the Paris club had planned to play two matches at the Palais des Congrès in October, it was ultimately forced to give up for administrative reasons and had to adjust its schedule accordingly.

As Halle Carpentier was busy due to the Wheelchair Rugby World Cup, Paris Basketball found a solution for its matches on October 15 and 18 against Le Portel in Betclic Elite and Hamburg in the Eurocup: playing at the Palais des Congrès, Porte Maillot , which would have been a great first for the venue since the 2012 Champions Match, and which would have allowed the Parisian club to play in another venue in the capital after the Accor Arena and Roland-Garros. But for administrative reasons, this will not be possible: “in a very constrained pre-Olympic context for the authorities, it was not possible for the Palais des Congrès to finalize the submission within the legal deadlines of a file for approval of the hall as a sports venue“, writes the club in a press release.

Reversal of the match against Hamburg

As it is not possible to find another room in time and the Halle Carpentier cannot be fitted out, the Parisian leaders asked their adversaries, the City of Paris and the authorities if it was possible to change the schedule, and this was accepted. Thus, Paris will host Le Portel on Saturday October 14 at 2:00 p.m. and not on Sunday the 15th, then will travel to Hamburg on the 18th before receiving the German club on December 20, although the schedule provided for the opposite. “Determined to explore new Parisian territories and expand an increasingly mobilized community, Paris Basketball will continue to move forward with the ambition of offering new experiences to its fans over the coming months,” continues the club in its communicated. He will also play the derby against Boulogne-Levallois on October 8 at the Accor Arena, before hosting Strasbourg on December 23 and Monaco on January 13. If all goes well, Paris will then inaugurate its Adidas Arena in February at Porte de La Chapelle. Even if the capital club is experiencing a small setback off the court with this failure to relocate to the Palais des Congrès, everything is going well on the pitch, however, with two victories in two matches to start the season.
