Pablo Abián is one step away from reaching his second consecutive final in Guatemala. And, after the silver won a week ago in Lagos (Nigeria), the Aragonese fell this Saturday in the semifinals of the Guatemala International.

The Spaniard has completed a great competition but has not been able to put the finishing touch after losing to the local idol and Olympic semi-finalist Kevin Cordón, who started as the first favorite. This one has won in two even sets by 21-12 and 21-18, defeating Abián for the second consecutive time, after the victory achieved this same year at the Brazil International.

Pablo Abián is in the fight to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and is already aiming for his next goals: the Belgian International and the Peru International.

«I am very happy with the result achieved. “I add 2,800 points for the classification of the Paris 2024 Olympics,” said the IES La Orden player on his social networks.

And I wanted to add that he has achieved «all this without the help of the Spanish Badminton Federation and to date without the Higher Sports Council acting and doing something to avoid injustices. I hope they make better decisions towards me soon.”
