Opava entered the cup duel with Zbrojovka from Brno in style. After only three minutes of the game, Rataj sent a ground cross into the goal. Ondráček reached the end in the slide. Goalkeeper Šiman deflected his attempt to Ščudl. But he didn’t succeed either. Štěpanovský pulled the brakes at the last moment to save. Opava clearly had the upper hand. After the center of Ondráček, Ščudla appeared in a great chance. This time the young midfielder finished next to the goal. A minute later, the same player shot just past the Opava goal. After a quarter of an hour of play, Slezáné was waiting. Blecha leaned on the ball, his attempt was sent to Helebrand, who uncompromisingly sent Opavská into the lead. In the next five minutes it was already 2:0. Rataj was fouled in the penalty area and Blech increased the score to 2:0. Opava was in the lauf. In another tut, Yahaya appeared. Goalkeeper Šiman pulled off a great save and destroyed the home striker’s chance. The visiting goalkeeper also coped with the poisonous Kadlece. However, in the 37th minute it was already 3:0. Yahaya brushed the ball against the stick. The bag of goals was torn open. Four minutes before halftime, Zbrojovka kicked a corner. It was played by Martínek and the free Alijagič knocked it into the net.

Ondřej Pyclík fondly remembers Hlučín. The transfer to Opava did not work out for him

We waited until the 60th minute for the first more interesting situation in the second half. Alijagič had a tut, but he didn’t succeed. The bounced ball reached Jambor, whose shot was quickly blocked by goalkeeper Číž. Twenty minutes before the end, Číž had to intervene against the shots of Kronus. On the other side, Kopečný rána was knocked down to the corner. Four minutes before the end of normal playing time, Brno kicked a standard situation. Kornus got to the rebound and Číž caught the ball from his net. But there was no drama. Opava saw the end expertly and could be happy about the progress.

Luděk Klusáček (coach of Zbrojovka Brno): “We entered the match in a combined lineup, but that is no excuse for our tragic performance in the first half. Opava gave us three goals, had other chances and could decide. We improved after the break and I think that if we had scored the second goal earlier, we could have made the match more dramatic, the opponent would have definitely made us more nervous. We were missing eleven players due to a viral illness. We wanted to postpone the match, but Opava didn’t agree.”

Miloslav Brožek (SFC Opava coach): “I am glad that we managed the match. We played excellently in the first forty minutes. We had chances to decide. At the end of the first half, we conceded a goal, it could also be a drop in concentration. After the break, the opponent improved, had chances, but they were also on our side. We are happy for the progress. This victory is certainly a good invitation to Saturday’s game. I believe that many spectators will also come.”
