Oliver Kahn Surprises Fans with Photo Featuring Football’s Biggest Stars Amidst Controversy

Oliver Kahn surprised his fans with a picture with one of football’s biggest stars.

The former world goalkeeper and ex-Bayern official Oliver Kahn contacted his fans on the short message service X with pictures of his visit to the Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. In the post, he thanked the club for their hospitality and the tour of the local facilities.

Kahn was also seen meeting Portuguese superstar Christiano Ronaldo and former Bayern Munich striker Sadio Mané. In the summer of 2022, Kahn helped manage the transfer of the Senegalese to Munich in his role at Bayern. Now the two saw each other again under significantly different circumstances.

At the end of his tweet, Kahn wrote that “it will be interesting to see how the Saudi Pro League develops in the future.”

For this statement, the 2001 CL winner promptly received a lot of backlash for his contribution. One user wrote: “Hello Oli, what makes you normalize the Saudi League? Could you please explain this to me? I hope the future for the Saudi League will be extremely shitty.”

Users on Instagram are also not very enthusiastic about Kahn and commented quickly and in large numbers. One user wrote: “Please just be ashamed of yourself and come to your senses at some point.” Another commented: “Always punt where the money is. Qatar or Saudi, it doesn’t matter!”

The Saudi Pro League gained notoriety this summer with numerous transfers of top stars from European leagues. In addition to Ronaldo and Mané, the new additions also included Karim Benzema and Neymar.

The desert state’s political leadership is keen to improve the country’s image. Neymar, for example, is said to receive a mere 500,000 euros for every social media post in which Saudi Arabia is mentioned positively. Therefore, some fans suspect that Kahn could also be financially compensated for his posts about the Saudi league.
