Pedro Sánchez, acting president of the Government, affirmed this Saturday that the Spanish players have given “a lesson to the world” with their attitude after the forced kiss and the refusal to resign of the suspended federation president, Luis Rubiales.
“Our players have won twice: once on the field, and then giving a lesson to the world, equality between men and women,” Sánchez said in a speech in Malaga, praising the decision of the 23 world champions not to return to wear the national shirt if there are no changes in the direction of the Spanish Football Federation.
“No more submitting to the bosses, the presidents of sports federations and the sursum korda,” he said. “Spain cannot be represented with attitudes and speeches that embarrass us and do not represent us”, referring to Rubiales.
