Niners Chemnitz Head Coach Sets Ambitious Goals for the Future

Chemnitz (dpa) – Head coach Rodrigo Pastore from the Niners Chemnitz justified his long-term contract extension with the Saxon basketball Bundesliga club with big goals. “We’ve created our own DNA, how we want to play basketball and how we want to improve as an organization – with our means. Of course now everyone’s asking: What’s next? Our answer is: We want to be in the top four in the next three years Teams in Germany are coming,” said the 50-year-old Argentinian in an interview with the “Freie Presse” (Monday).

Pastore came to Chemnitz in 2015, led the team to the upper house and reached the playoffs in 2022. Then the team “proved a year later that it wasn’t a flash in the pan. We’re represented in European competition,” said the coach, adding: “But it’s less important to us that we achieve this goal. It’s important to us how we do it achieve it. By continuing to improve step by step. By having players who are ready to constantly improve. Jan Niklas Wimberg and Nelson Weidemann are just two examples. That is our path. We will continue to do so.”
