After the serious injury to Browns running back Nick Chubb, the Steelers defensive back defended the tackle he made on the play.

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick affirmed this Thursday that he is not a dirty player after causing a knee injury to Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb, which will prevent him from playing for the rest of the 2023 season.

“I’m a guy who’s a competitor, who’s going to go out and play without restraint. I’m happy, but I’m not a dirty player. I’m not going to sit here and defend my character. I know the type of player I am and Nick Chubb knows the type of player I am,” declared the defender.

Minkah Fitzpatrick explained the play from last Monday’s week two game in which he tackled Nick Chubb, who failed to get his left leg out of the way as he took another hit above the waist.

“I went high because I wasn’t going to stop him. I saw that he opened up for the score, I didn’t look at anyone above him and I made the decision low. This is a fast game, you make decisions in milliseconds and you don’t control what happens after the you make your decision,” he explained.

The three-time Pro Bowl selection detailed that he never expected someone to take down Nick Chubb from the top, which is what ended up dramatically bending his knee.

“Someone went on his back when he was coming down and what happened happened. There’s nothing I would really do differently. It’s very unfortunate. Nick Chubb is a great player. He makes the game so much better when he plays. I just hope he has a speedy recovery,” Minkah Fitzpatrick wished for the Browns player.

The defender born in Old Bridge, New Jersey, spoke to end the accusations that accuse him of having intentionally injured Nick Chubb.

“There is no chance I would ever intentionally try to hurt anyone, it was an unfortunate event. This is a physical game, players get hurt and it is not acceptable for people sitting behind a screen to come and tell me how I should have done it.” done or what they would have done when they have never played this sport,” he concluded.
