NFL Offseason Moves: Key Player Transactions and Team Changes

American football is back and it’s time to get used to the new teams of the players who are part of this great league. Names that have been the protagonists of the transfer period and free agency and that have changed teams to face new projects or because they did not have the confidence of the coaching staff of the franchise in which they were. Learn about the main movements of players who have marked the NFL.

Aaron Rodgers

After several years of discrepancies with the Green Bay Packers board of directors, Aaron Rodgers left the institution that chose him in the Draft in 2005. The Californian is the perfect fit for the New York Jets since he will silence the innumerable doubts that were in around the quarterback position. He found in the New York franchise a group led by Robert Saleh and made up of youngsters with a lot of progression such as Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson, the best rookies in the defensive and offensive section in 2022. His commitment is such that he renegotiated his contract downwards to free up the cap salary and that they could sign a surety broker like Dalvin Cook. He does not plan to spend just one season in the Big Apple.

Jalen Ramsey

The Miami Dolphins have acquired Jalen Ramsey, one of the best defensemen in the entire league in a trade that saw Mike McDaniel’s team send Hunter Long and a third-round pick to the Los Angeles Rams. The cornerback has been selected three times in the best team in the NFL and has gone to the Pro Bowl six times. With this addition, the Florida team reinforces its secondary and strengthens a position in which Ramsey will share a position with Xavier Howard, also an All-Pro.

Jimmy Garoppolo

He came from the Patriots to the 49ers with the starting tag, but multiple injuries have seen Brock Purdy take his job. The quarterback has left San Francisco for Las Vegas to meet with Josh McDaniels, the former coach and great friend of his, who is now part of the Raiders coaching staff. He has been one of the most desired players in free agency and signs with a franchise that let Derek Carr go. He knows McDaniels and his entire plan so it seems like a perfect fit. The only doubt about his figure revolves around the injuries that have hampered his performance in recent years.

Baker Mayfield

Tom Brady’s replacement. Baker Mayfield will be the starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following their acquisition in free agency. His stint with the Browns, Panthers and Rams and his ability to understand the playbook has been key in commanding the operations of his fourth franchise. Mayfield signed a single year with the Florida organization and his renewal will depend on the performance he shows on the pitch.

Orlando Brown

The arrival of Orlando Brown to the Cincinnati Bengals shows how the Ohio organization cares about maximizing the welfare of Joe Burrow. Brown is, along with Jason Kelce, Quenton Nelson and Joel Bitonio, the only Pro Bowl selections at his position in each of the previous four seasons. The offensive line showed signs of improvement in 2022, but remained among the worst in the league. In the last two years, Burrow has been the quarterback who has received the most sacks. His signing enhances the weakest point of a franchise whose expectations during the season are very high.

JuJu Smith-Schuster

Since he began his career with the Steelers, a special talent was seen in him. However, in recent years his name has not been mentioned due to his exploits on the field. He wanted to change the course of his career and joined the Chiefs, although his adventure in Kansas has been short-lived. The receiver has signed a three-year contract with the New England Patriots to reinforce the weaker position of the team coached by Bill Belichick. The franchise wants to give Mac Jones a new offensive weapon with which to qualify for the playoffs. Last season he had 933 yards for three touchdowns.

Dalvin Cook

He was the star runner for some Vikings who were very competitive. However, the franchise decided not to renew his contract and bet on Alexander Mattison. After four seasons in which he has rushed for over 1,100 yards, he hasn’t lacked for proposals. Ultimately, he settled on the New York Jets to form a lethal pairing with Aaron Rodgers. The quarterback lowered his salary to free up salary space so that the New York structure could sign him. Competitive mentality for a Jets who aspire to everything.

Bobby Wagner

After a year away, the prodigal son of the Seattle Seahawks defense returns. The linebacker headed for the Los Angeles Rams, but after returning to Lumen Field, the stadium of the team that drafted him, he was overwhelmed by the innumerable expressions of affection received. In an unusual move, Quandre Diggs, a Seahawks player, announced the return of Bobby Wagner to a deserted center defense without his presence. The team, always known for the secondary, adds talent for 2023.

Trey Lance

He was the last man to change teams. Trey Lance has seen himself surpassed by his competitors and has been transferred to the Dallas Cowboys where he will be the backup for Dak Prescott. He’s surprised how quickly the 49ers have released him since they gave the Dolphins so much to get him. The Cowboys get a quarterback who hasn’t had great opportunities to perform in the NFL, but will learn under Mike McCarthy.

Ezekiel Elliott

Ezekiel Elliott’s services will no longer be needed in Dallas. Tony Pollard won his place in the starting team and the Texan franchise has chosen to decline for him. ‘Zeke’ will join the New England Patriots where he will have to compete for the starting position with Rhamondre Stevenson who aims to be Bill Belichick’s favorite. The broker signs a one-year contract and his renewal will be marked by his performance this season.
